NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a flagship programme of Government of India under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunities to the student youth. To mark the birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi, former union education minister Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao launched NSS on 24th September 1969 ,with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of the youth through voluntary community service.

NSS unit is one of the vibrant division of our college. Upholding its universal Motto ‘’ NOT ME BUT YOU’’ and providing the complete platform for the personality development through the community service. In our NSS unit volunteers are very active and dedicated towards service for the nation under the guidance of Programme Officers. Programme Officers are the driving force behind all the activities of NSS units. Their activities towards the nation building are well appreciated and accepted. 

All the NSS volunteers wear the badge with pride and sense of responsibility towards helping needy. The Konark wheel in the NSS badge having 8 bars signifies the 24 hours of the day, reminding the wearer to be ready for the 24 hours. Red colour in the badge signifies energy and spirit displayed by the NSS volunteers. The blue colour signifies the cosmos of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind.

National Service Scheme Unit of Bangabasi Morning College initiated in the year 2009.Our Volunteers are serving the nation by constructing Dam ,bridge, boundary walls at adopted village, distributing food and drinking water in scarcity during disasters like Amphaan and Yaas as well as national calamity, donating blood, planting saplings,  organizing free medical Checkup Camps, Self Defence Training Programmes, trainings for Women Empowerment, Free Education and other regular activities Sadbhavana Diwas, Fit India Movement, Poshan Abhiyaan, Adult Literacy, Digital Literacy, Cashless India, Plastic cleanliness drive programmes, Distribution of Masks & Sanitisers including various types of other initiatives during COVID-19 Pandemic, Seminars, leadership training programmes, Webinars, Online Quiz Competitions and many more.

 NSS volunteers of Bangabasi Morning College recycled plastic wastes by making Eco Bricks. Organise different workshops and webinars on making Eco Bricks which are substitutes of mud-bricks. Volunteers organise awareness programs on Dengue, Malaria, AIDS, Drug Abuse, Protection of Children against Sexual Offence Act (POCSO), Gender Sensitization, Human and Child Trafficking, Save Trees, Natural Resources & Bio Diversity through handmade posters, wall paintings, digital posters, videos and Nukkad Nataks etc.

During covid pandemic Bangabasi Morning College NSS unit organised an International online quiz competition from 5th June to 15th June 2020 on the occasion of World Environment Day. In this quiz competition 13,582 participants have participated from 22 different countries. The quiz competition is recorded by  Limca Book of Records for Most participants for an online quiz – multiple days. NSS Unit along with Programme Officer of our college is the recipient of State NSS Award 2021-22 by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. Of West Bengal. Two Volunteers are also recipient of the same for consecutive years 2020-21 & 2021-22.
